Crazy idea. 48 hours. A new course.

KOSEL started as a dare we made to ourselves: take one crazy idea and build it into something real in 48 hours. Not a plan. Not a deck. A real brand, with real shirts, that real people could buy, built on a bike ride from Dorset to the Cornish coast.

This is it. You're looking at it.

Why we exist

We believe anyone can change the course of their life with one crazy idea and the nerve to act on it fast. Most ideas die in the gap between having them and starting. KOSEL exists to close that gap, and to prove it can be done, out loud, in public, with the clock running.

We're for the dreamers who are tired of just dreaming. The ones with the idea on a napkin, the side project that never got started, the thing they keep telling their mates they'll do one day. One day is 48 hours long. Go.

The name

Kosel is Kernewek, the Cornish language. It means calm. Say it koz-el.

We chose it because calm is the thing that comes after the overwhelm. Not the absence of the storm, but what's left when the wave has passed. It's the feeling of paddling out past the break, or the last mile of a long ride when your head finally goes quiet. That's the feeling we're named after, and it's the feeling we want on your back.

Cornwall is in our bones. The coast, the sea, the weather that comes in sideways. KOSEL is a Cornish word for a Cornish feeling, and we'll never dress it up as anything else.

Who benefits

Every KOSEL garment gives at least £10 to The Wave Project, the Cornish charity that uses surf therapy to help young people build confidence and find calm in the water. We picked them because what they do for kids is exactly what the sea has done for us.

The Wave Project is who benefits. The reason we exist is bigger: to show you that you can do this too.

A note from Jim

I know what overwhelm feels like. I have ADHD and I'm autistic, and there are days when the noise in my head gets too loud to think straight. I've learned that the only reliable way out is to get outside and move. Surfing. Cycling. The sea. The road. Somewhere along the way, the noise drops and calm comes back.

That's why this brand is built around the coast and the sea and the calm you find there. It's not a mood board. It's what works for me.

I built KOSEL in 48 hours on a bike, in a gale, because I wanted to prove to myself and to you that one crazy idea, acted on fast, can change the direction you're heading in. If you're reading this and you've got an idea sitting in your head, this is your sign. Start now. I'll be the one answering your emails.
